IMG_00000437

Sending you some bright blocks to brighten your days.  Many of us here in the US are overwhelmed by snow and cold.  We must fight back by sewing!

A very positive stash report this week, but I will confess that there’s a fabric order on the way…

This week:  +0 yards,  -10 yards (pillowcases for donation)

This year:  +0 yards,  -10 yards

Net stash used this years:  -10 yards

Keep warm!

Nothing in and nothing out this week.   I’m quilting the turquoise and gray chevrons, so that will be in next week’s report, I hope.

This week:  +0 yards,  -0 yards

YTD:  +131 yards,  -231.25 yards

Net stash used in 2013:  -100.25 yards

So what’s Yuri so interested in, if it’s not the stash?  His boy is home from college, and was pulling in the driveway when I took this.  Sure made his ears perk up.

May you all spend this week with people who make you happy.

Net stash used in 2013:  -82.5 yards

How are you doing with your destashing?

Sunday Stash Report: 9/15/13

Just a little fabric in this week, just barely offset by what I used, but it was in the right direction and the math was easy.  I needed some fabrics for my landscape quilt, and the two on top were very much on sale.  And sprinkled with gold metallic spots.  Obviously, I had to buy them.

AND, I’ve embarked on a great destashing project:  the Scrapitude Mystery Quilt at Quilting for the Rest of Us.  There’s a Flickr group, and it’s being heavily discussed/shown on Twitter, #scrapitude.  It’s just starting, so join us.

This week:  +3.5 yards,  -4.5 yards (wall hangings)

YTD:  +123 yards,  -184.75 yards

Net stash used in 2013:  -61.75 yards

Instead of Yuri, whose main accomplishments are catching chipmunks to release in the house, and getting in the way of quilt photographs, I thought I’d show you my son today.  He is accomplished at many things, including playing trumpet in the Marching Thunder band at Marshall University, Huntington, WV, where he is a sophomore.  Yes, We Are Marshall, the movie.  They march about 300 instruments.

Sunday Stash Report: Home from Vacation

image

Back from our Odyssey across America and Canada, and only 2 yards of fabric returned with me!  I am happy to report that there are hundreds of quilt shops in the northern US and Canada, but I did not shop in most of them.  DH kept saying, “Do you want to go in that shop?”, as if it would make up for the hours of staring at the plains or slogging through yet another museum or gift shop.  I kept reminding him that I already own plenty of fabric.  I did buy these pre-cuts at The Quilt Patch in Moose jaw, SK, with the idea of reproducing some of those plains or mountains in quilt form.

On return, I found that Timeless Treasures had sent me this Tonga Treat Mini as a thank-you for the quilts I donated to Hurricane Sandy Relief.  Darn, batiks!

This week:  +2.75 yards, -0 yards
YTD:  +114.5 yards,  -171 yards
Net stash used in 2013:  56.5 yards

How is your summer going?  Getting to be time for back-to-school and some serious sewing!

Sunday Stash Report: 6/30/13

Good morning!  Yes, some fabric was purchased, five yards from Scizzors on Etsy.  They have a great selection of novelty prints.  This is earmarked for a Christmas project, so it will come back off the rolls, hopefully in the next few months.

I used three yards to back the commissioned quilt and pillow cover.

This week: +5 yards, -3 yards
YTD:  +97.5 yards,  -163.5
Net stash use in 2013:  -66 yards

How are you doing with destashing? It’s freeing, isn’t it?

Sunday Stash Report: A little out, a little in. 6/2/13

image

It’s been a busy, hot week, and I didn’t sew as much as I would have liked.  I need to make sure I get up early and not linger over the coffee and tablet.  Our woods are deceptively cool, but by noon my upstairs studio is usually too hot for sewing in this weather.  We’ve also been away a fair amount.   This week I used 6 1/2 yards for the Orange and Gray String Quilt.  I’ll blog about it soon.

Some fabric was purchased.  10 1/2 yards.  but isn’t it pretty?  Those are little gray flying geese on the white one!  I passed by The Fabric Shack twice in the last two weeks, but I couldn’t look the other way the third time.  The geese were on sale…  Aaa, I have the rest of the year to make it to -100 yards!

This week:  +10.5 yards,  -6.5 yards

YTD:  +83.5 yards,  -144.4 yards

Net stash used in 2013:  -61 yards
